“YFC reaches young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the word of God and prayer, passion for sharing the love of Christ, and commitment to social involvement.”

"YFC reaches young people..."  We consider reaching young people to specifically include 11-19 year old youth who do not have a personal relationship to Jesus.  While our work may include young people who already have such a relationship (prior to coming into connection with YFC, or as a result of coming into connection with YFC), our efforts are intentionally focused on non-Christian youth.

"...everywhere..."  The mission of COYFC is focused on the young people in seven counties in central Ohio: Franklin, Delaware, Licking, Fairfield, Pickaway, Madison and Union.  Specifically, this includes where others can't go due to restrictions (e.g. youth in Juvenile Justice facilities), or choose not to go due to their own organizational mission and strategy (urban neighborhoods, at-risk populations, etc.).

"...working together with the local church and other like-minded partners..."  We consider partnership with the local church as essential to the long-term success of our work.  We therefore intend to identify church partners as long as such local church bodies share the mission and values under which we operate.  We will equally partner with other Christian or secular organizations to the extent that we can identify common cause in our work, a common outcome of our work and a shared respect for the beliefs and values that we hold.

"...to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus..."  We intend to structure our work and training to support long-term, life impact on the youth we engage in our work. This by nature and intention will require a greater investment in follow up and discipleship, as well as equipping of leaders for these more complex tasks. We also intend to offer this training to churches who may take over the discipleship work with our youth. However, our conviction is that this is the correct value to govern our work.

"...who lead..."  These two words clarify the kind of lifelong followers we desire to produce in our work.  That is, followers of Jesus who not only have longevity, but who positively impact others with their lives.

"...by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the word of God and prayer, passion for sharing the love of Christ, and commitment to social involvement.”  These descriptors help define the kind of leadership that we seek to elicit from the young leaders in our midst.  We desire young men and women of character, faith, action and engagement in the needs of others.
